This Privacy Policy describes how Pearland MLKCC (Pearland Martin Luther King Celebration Committee) handles information provided through this website, inquiries, donations, membership registrations, and event activities.

Information you provide

We receive the information you choose to share, which may include your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, interests, message, and registration or donation details. Please do not include sensitive financial, medical, or identity information in an inquiry.

The website contact form currently prepares an email draft in your own email application. It does not submit your details to a website database or CRM. We receive your inquiry only if you send the email. Interest selections are included as text in that draft and do not enroll you in messaging.

How information is used

Responding to inquiries and requests for assistance.
Coordinating volunteer activities and requested program information.
Managing event participation, membership, and donation acknowledgments.
Sending organizational communications consistent with your choices and applicable consent requirements.

Providing a telephone number, donating, registering, or choosing an interest does not constitute permission to send marketing text messages.

Text messaging and consent

Website SMS enrollment is currently inactive. The contact page displays separate, disabled and unchecked informational and promotional SMS options for disclosure only. This website does not currently collect SMS opt-ins, activate text subscriptions, or send automated texts.

If SMS enrollment is enabled in the future, Pearland MLKCC will request affirmative, optional consent for each applicable message category before sending messages. Informational messages may concern inquiries, event registration reminders, volunteer coordination, and scholarship updates. Promotional messages may include fundraising appeals, event promotions, and membership opportunities. Consent will not be a condition of purchase, donation, membership, volunteering, or receiving assistance.

For an active program, message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Contact the committee using the details below if you need assistance. See our Terms of Service for program disclosures.

Mobile information and SMS opt-in privacy

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, except the service providers necessary to operate and deliver the messaging program.

We do not sell, rent, or trade mobile numbers or SMS consent records. Necessary messaging providers may process this information only to deliver or support the program on our behalf, not for their own independent marketing. We do not transfer SMS consent to other organizations or treat event registration or a donation as permission for third-party marketing.

Service providers and other disclosures

We may use service providers to support email, website hosting, event registration, donations, or an activated messaging program. They may receive information necessary to provide their services. We may also disclose information where legally required or necessary to protect rights and safety. These disclosures do not permit sharing SMS consent for independent marketing.

Third-party services, embedded forms, and cookies

Donation, membership, and banquet registration forms are provided by Zeffy. Information entered in these forms is processed by Zeffy under its policies and the campaign’s terms. This website does not itself process payment-card details. Third-party services, embedded forms, and external links may collect technical information such as your IP address, device information, or cookies when they load or you interact with them.

Your browser settings can limit cookies, although some embedded features may not function as expected. Consent given on an external service does not automatically opt you into Pearland MLKCC text messages through this contact form.

Retention and security

We retain information as needed for the purpose for which it was provided, applicable recordkeeping obligations, and honoring communication preferences. When messaging is active, opt-out and consent records may need to be retained to honor your choices. We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information handled; no electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices and privacy requests

You may ask to access, correct, or delete information you have provided, or request that nonessential communications stop, by contacting the committee. Requests are subject to applicable legal and recordkeeping obligations. For an active SMS program, reply STOP to the sending number to opt out; emailing or calling the committee is also available for assistance.

If a young person needs to provide information for a youth program or scholarship, a parent or guardian should assist where appropriate. Please contact the committee before sharing a minor’s sensitive information.

Policy changes

Updates to this policy will be posted on this page. SMS enrollment and updated program disclosures must be in place before this website begins collecting text-message subscriptions.
